Reconstructing Faith
About Lesson

Christ Consciousness is a term that simply means living as Jesus did. That doesn’t mean we do or say the same things he did, but that we embody the wholistic body, mind, soul aspects that Jesus did. Everyone’s path looks different, but we have the opportunity to do everything in love.

Love is the defining aspect of Christ Consciousness. I believe that the fruits of the Spirit in John 15 are expanded ways of embodying love. These fruits are: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These fruits are more than emotions, but long term states of being that transcend are momentary ever-changing emotions.

Christ Consciousness could also be equated with Jesus saying that “the kingdom of heaven is within you.” Likewise: “the kingdom of heaven is now.” By our inner awareness we can have peace, love, and joy through all things as Paul states after enduring shipwreck, snake bite, imprisonment, and being beaten.

Living in this state is our goal. It is a moment by moment practice. Sometimes we live within this understanding, but often we forget. There is no condemnation in this, but the more we live in this the less we suffer and the more we bless others.
